This thing clocked at 4.9 is a beast!!!

Runs my games at the best of FPS and great for premiere renders. It is getting dated in this age so I'd look at the 8700 series.

Use this as an upgrade from Intel 4570.. night and day difference

Was cheap enough at the time and although it’s now on the older side the only issue I find is I can’t over lock anymore due to heat issues, great value cpu and can’t go wrong buying one

Upgraded PC. I have had it for 3 months and works great.

Bought it in October 2014 (4 months after launch) and it has been the best processor I have ever had. I am nowhere near thinking of upgrading and it runs better than some newer generation i7. Overclocks with no issue. Now, I only paid $309 in 2014 so I am not sure it would be worth buying this generation at this price in 2018, but if you have to because of compatibility, this is the best z97 processor you are looking for.

A rock solid processor that easily overclocks to 4.6 or even 4.8 with the correct cooling system. I am running at 4.6 with 1.25v, 32gigs DDR3 2400hz RAM, air cooling and the system is totally stable and runs fast as heck! Temps are mid 80'sC under stress test and mid 40'sC during normal use.

This Processor is Unreal. Works FLAWLESS and Handles LOADS of data. Worth every Penny. Than You Intel for making such a Great product.

4 years after purchase and it hasnt bottlenecked or overheated

Had to update bios on my MSI z87i gaming ac motherboard in order to be able to use this chip. Aside from that, everything was as expected.

4 years later and still performing like a BEAST!

Great processor. Make sure you get the 'K' version so you can overclock it.

I got this to upgrade from my i5 4690. I did not want to spend the money to upgrade my motherboard (and then RAM), and this is the highest tier CPU for the LGA 1150 chipset. The product arrived factory sealed. It's as easy to install as any Intel CPU. Even though it is marketed as running at 4.0, it defaults to 4.2 without manual overclocking. Whether or not that was a default choice by my motherboard to kick it up or not, I can't say.I'm still running the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (air cooling), and the chip hasn't gone over 60 during any of my normal use - gaming and VR. It touches 62-64 at times during stress testing, which is still well below anything that would be worrisome. So you can get some mild overclocking on the chip without converting to liquid cooling.
