This worked perfectly for 4 years. I'm about to upgrade to a 9000-series Intel CPU as I write this. The newer CPUs are only maybe 15% faster for 1-4 thread workloads, which makes this CPU all the more impressive.The only drawback I can think of is that Intel's overclocking software (on Windows) seems to cause instability, although regular overclocking through BIOS seemed OK.Definitely better than AMD, which is 95% marketing hype and 5% product.

Replaced my 4970. Runs about 8 degree C warmer in a laptop which is to be expected. Chip works perfectly and came in good time. Thanks!

Great CPU for anyone really. I have an old motherboard which is limited on choices, so it's a very good processor for anyone on a budget and wants to play AAA titles on high settings.

Really nice CPU. Can be overclocked, just be sure to use a liquid cpu cooler. Upgraded to the 6700k cpu on a new motherboard, and really can't tell a difference from the speed of the 4790k. I now feel upgrade was a waste of money, but sometimes ya gotta have the new🤷‍♂️

Still insanely fast after two years.I’m running an Oculus Rift VR headset, and coupled with a GTX 1070 OC, this chip still nails it. Just no need to upgrade. Incredible value for money. Just don’t use a stock cooler, this runs hot. I’m using a cooler master EVO to keep this sucker from catching fire!

bought this in 2015 and today it is still a beast of a CPU

This chip is unreal, its fast, doesn't overheat, and yes can be overclocked via/CMOS/BIOS. 4.0ghz is more then enough power for me, I run FSX & FSX-SE all with an average of between 120fps to 198fps. The reason why is simple, spend the money on this chip ONLY if your going to get a Monster Video card coupled with it. You'd be defeating your purpose any other way. I have had this chip as high as 4.8ghz, only to test it. It didn't fail for one second. Sadly, I had to buy this Chip at another Vending company, its WAY over priced here by about $102.00 bucks, and now I'm sure is even cheaper elsewhere. If your looking for speed for gaming with a good graphics card, this is the one.
