I will never leave the i7 4790k until there's another quad-core processor that can beat it at DDR3 with 5-6+ GHz speed. I play games that require strong single-core processing from time to time, upgrading to their latest crap multicore won't do anything for me except for newer games and programming. Intel needs to make the next i7 4790K with higher processing speeds and stick with DDR3.

Don't get me wrong this thing works great! I'm disappointed because in 3 more years,Microsoft has made it obsolete and I'm going to have to replace the whole rig in orderto update to windows 11 and windows 10 will no longer be supported!

Been using this processor since it was released with z97 PRO asrock motherboard and its still going strong with never having any issues at all. I use my PC all day every day as well as play AAA games on the reg. I did use this set up without a GPU for about 6 years. It does get pretty hot when gaming Apex and WOW without GPU but its possible. I pushed her hard and only finally got a GPU bc I got tired of rig heating up my room. So I got a 2080 super installed making it a monster.I'm just now, 9/19/2021, going to upgrade to a newer CPU just because I'm getting a new motherboard mostly bc I want an 11th gen processor. I am building another PC using this i7-4790k with z97 pro for a family member to give it more life being it is so amazing I can't let it rot in a drawer.

Easy install, didn't know stock fan would be included and I wouldn't recommend it. But for someone who already has a good gaming pc this processor was a needed upgrade, definitely recommend for the price, I'm using it with a gtx 970 and it works wonders

I was satisfied with my purchase, it came in through the mail a week early. Only one thing that was a bummer was that the price dropped $20 within two days after I had already bought the CPU. Over all pretty happy though!

Bought mine back in 2015. Has run continuously 60% of the time. My 1st OC project after years of building PC's... easy as pie. Actually ran with thermal paste almost all gone. For years. Never a problem. As an avid gamer and music producer, this has handled anything I've thrown at it even multi tasking intensively with no problem. Ran strictly AMD before this one ....might never go back.
